Instagram Live Scheduling
Live Scheduling help broadcasters on Instagram create and promote scheduled Live events ahead of time, so audiences can get reminded to tune in later.
I led design for the feature’s first iteration, while driving alignment for a longer-term design solution with two designers from the Instagram Live and Business Verticals teams.

We helped broadcasters easily create scheduled Live events within the Live Camera.
After scheduling their live event, broadcasters can share their event to their audiences through a Feed Post.
We also helped broadcasters share their upcoming Live events on their Stories.
Audiences can easily discover these upcoming Live events on feed and turn on reminders to tune in later.
I partnered closely with designers from the Live and Business Vertical Teams to scale this pattern to other event types on Instagram.
We designed our reminder system to convey relevant information and actions before, during, and after the Live event.
24 hours before
A day before the event, audiences receive a notification to remind them of the upcoming Live event.
15 mins before
Audiences also receive a second notification 15 minutes before the event is scheduled to start.
Live now
When the broadcaster goes Live, all entrypoints (notifications, half sheet) lead audiences directly to the livestream.
Post-Live
After the broadcast ends, all entrypoints direct people to a saved recording of the live broadcast (if the broadcaster decides to save it).
OUTCOMES
We helped broadcasters increase live viewership on Instagram, with scheduled broadcasts gaining 47x more watch-time hours compared to those that weren’t scheduled.
For Live Shopping specifically, viewership tripled for scheduled live shopping events during the Holiday 2021 period — particularly for highly engaged shoppers who were more likely to view product details and add at least one item to their cart during the livestream.
